Katie Whittle is an illustrator based in Liverpool.
From a young age I have been thoroughly enraptured in art, nature and fantasy. I spent my early life obsessing about folklore, mythology and the natural world. My parents regularly took me on nature walks and to wildlife sanctuaries, I was eagerly encouraged by my family to hone my artistic skills and focus on being creative. When I was a teenager I received my first tarot deck, a simple Rider-Waite deck and guidebook that I made my own tarot pouch for and in many ways this was the first step to my tarot journey. In between I went to university and studied illustration (BA) and Philosophy (MA) and also built up what people consider a distinct illustration style. My work has continue childhood themes nature, folklore and fantasy but now with a much darker edge that has come with life experience.
I finally created my first deck, a majors only deck (for now) Occult Ornithology, a deck based on the beauty of birds that was successfully crowdfunded in 2020. It gave me the building blocks and experience for The Bad Trip Tarot, due to be born 2022.
